Make dog mailbox, measure and cut your firewood. You need front and rear panels measuring 12 1/8 by 6 ½ inches. For the bottom you will need a 12- by 4 ½-inch piece; and, for the top, the wood should measure 14 by 16 inches. Each page should measure 5 of 6 1/2 inches. Use carpenter’s glue to attach the two sides to the bottom, with the edges of the bottom is on the inside. Let the glue set before hammering two nails in each side for extra grip.
Attach the front and rear parts of the bottom and sides with carpenter’s glue so that the edges of the dog mailbox bottom are on the inside. Nail in place. Attach two hinges to the back of the mailbox with short screws. Put up in the mailbox into place and secure the top half of the hinges so the lid can open and close. Use a fine sandpaper to eliminate rough edges and to make the surface of the wood as smooth as possible. Clear away all the sawdust when finished.
